Todd Pellowe's Blog | Louisville Wedding Photographer

Welcome to the new and improved photography blog of Todd Pellowe. I'm a wedding photographer based out of Louisville, Kentucky. My goal at every wedding I shoot is to tell an authentic story that is as beautiful as it is artistic. This blog serves as a creative outlet where I can post my favorite images from weddings and other shoots. Along with images from weddings and engagement sessions, you're likely to find images of my family (check out the "personal" category to see the latest on the Pellowe family) and other random images from our adventures through life. If you're a prospective client, friend or fellow wedding photographer, I hope you enjoy looking through the galleries.
Don't forget to let me know you were here by dropping some blog love in a comments section.

| While I was in Vegas for WPPI, Victor Sizemore invited me to tag along for a unique session. Something I've never really done before. It was basically a fashion inspired bridal session for one of his clients, Lizzie, who is getting married in Southern California in September. There were props, a hair stylist, a makeup artist and about a dozen photographers. We had an absolute blast. Lizzie was absolutely awesome to work with. So much fun and up for anything. (Which says a LOT as it was wicked cold and windy that day.) These photographs are my take on the session. (Posted with permission from Victor.) |

I'm back from WPPI |

What. A. Week. I can't remember the last time I've had so much fun and gotten so little sleep. I was one of thousands of wedding photographers that converged onto Las Vegas for one epic week of seminars, shoots and parties.
Favorite memories on WPPI 2009 (in no special order because I'm too tired to rank them.)
10) The Bludomain party at the Hard Rock. Without a doubt the most fun I've had in a long time. It was like the wedding reception I've always wanted to be a guest at. Amazing atmosphere, karaoke, great food and rock band. I heard Jennifer Skog tell the funniest story about Angelica Glass that I've ever heard. The best part was the ultra-smooth dj mixing great songs for me and my new and old friends to dance/scream/mosh to. Ever heard Don't Stop Believing, Enter Sandman and Sweet Caroline one after the other? EPIC!
9) On the way to the airport, my buddy and roommate Lang said, "In my sleep, I tried to spoon you and think I may have said something inappropriate." Good thing I'm a heavy sleeper.
8) Went to a Blues Traveler concert with Josh and Logan. At the end of the concert John Popper threw his harmonica out into the crowd. I could tell that it had fallen on the floor in between the stage and the crowd. Without even thinking I jumped over the rail (with a lot of help from Josh and Logan) and literally landed on my forehead. (I've got a bruise to prove it.) I ripped my dress shirt in the process as well. I did manage to get the harmonica though so it was all worth it.
7) Started with $100 and got up to $350 in a cash game at MGM. I had K-J and Q-K-K flopped. I raised and an old wrinkly lady called. I felt bad because I was about to take an old lady's money. Then a 3 came on the turn. I raised to try to get her out of the hand. This time she raised over the top. I had to call, right? I'm pot committed with three kings. She put me all in on the river and I called. I turned over my K-J and she showed me here pocket 3's giving her a full house. That's right, I lost $350 to an old wrinkly lady. Now I'm waking up from nightmares of some chain-smoking lady laughing in my face as she rakes all my chips away from me.
6) Watching two incredibly crazy men jump rope on this spinning wheel of death at cirque du soleil's KA at the MGM.
5) I went to dinner with a bunch of buddies (Victor, Logan, Alex, Becker, Norwood, Ted and Matthew) at this Italian joint in Old Vegas. We open the door to get in and enter this small dark room with a red door. We try to open the door and it's locked. Weird. So we ring the doorbell. Then this little hatch opens up and this beautiful woman looks through the small opening and recognizes Victor and tells us to wait a moment. All the sudden, the wall that the pay phone is on opens up. A trick door to get in. How cool is that? The meal was great, but the environment was insane. Red leather, amazing bar and Godfather was even playing on a plasma.
4) Greg Gibson's slideshow on Brazilian cowboys. Amazing.
3) Spending an hour in the gallery where the competition prints hung. Congratulations Garrett, Jerry and Cliff. I saw your work everywhere.
2) Victor Sizemore set up a great bridal shoot in the desert. Cracked dirt bed and mountains in the distance. He was kind enough to invite me to it and I had a blast. Shots from the shoot are almost ready to blog.
1) In'n'out burger. Twice.
And because you can't have a post without an image, here's an image from our desert bed shoot. (More to come soon, I promise!) |

I'm off to Vegas! |

Feb 14 | News
|

I'll be taking a week off for a wedding photography convention in Las Vegas. (Don't hate me, the weather is supposed to be freezing.) I'm super excited about seeing some old photographer friends and meeting new ones from across the country. If you see me at the convention, please say hi. I'm really looking forward to making new friendships and if you tell me you love my photography, I'll buy you a drink. (Just kidding... but seriously.) Anyway, I'll be back late Thursday night and should have some pretty fun images when I return. Wish me luck! I'm going to play a little hold'em while I'm there. (I'm not good, so I'll need a LOT of luck!)
And because no blog post is complete without a few pictures, here are a few from the last time I was in Vegas in 2005, shooting Jason and Katie's engagement session. |

AUDREY + SCOTT | COFFEE TABLE BOOK |

| Ooooh baby. I was so excited when I opened the fedex box and saw this. I had to make sure I wasn't drooling on the book itself. Audrey and Scott chose to display the photographs from their fabtastic Lexington wedding in a mammoth 40 page 15x10 inch coffee table book. The cover? None other than super sexy distressed brown leather. Can you tell I love these things? When opened, it spans 30 inches across. Can you imagine 30 inches of pure photographic goodness in your lap? Well if you can't, trust me. It's pretty awesome. |

| It feels SO good to get out and shoot after the cold, icy weather we've had here in Louisville. Here's Holly and Cliff's engagement session in Gratz Park. I can't wait for their Lexington wedding in April. |

| Here's their lovable retriever, Ellie, showing off for the camera. |
